Brother Jason Farr #330309 House of Corrections Sept. 24,2000 Well any ways as I was walking to the chow hall very unpleasant memories started to fill my mind about the meals we eat. Food be burned so bad that it's impossible to eat because it's to hard. Then we get 15 minutes to eat and that 15 minutes is never promised because a minute after I sit down they be telling me to hurry up because it's time to go. Can't nobody in their right mind not feel like a slave after eating here in the House of Correction. But what happened today at breakfast was something that I will never forget, there was live, moving maggots. Not just one or a few but all over the floor maggots. Ever since I could remember there's always been some kind of little white particles on the floor of the dining hall. But never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that those white things were alive. Where did the maggots come from, and do they ever mop the floor? How long have the maggots been on the floor? It was just to many to be real. A Poem by Jason Farr Where WE Be I said "no" to education and "yes" to drugs, Now I'm sitting in prison with the rest of these thugs. Wishing that I would have went a different way. I hate to say it, but now it is to late. But it's never to late to make a new beginning, Especially when I can go from loosing to winning! You can take my advise or learn on your own, This place ain't nothing nice but right, now Prison is my home. All because I did not listen. Special times with my family is what I'm missing. And when I think about my mistakes, I feel ashamed, But I did it to myself so I can't complain! I gots to live on and make the most of today, Learn from me, and please don't chose to come this way! Because if you do you will truely understand the meaning of a hard time. You'll find yourself in situations where hope is hard to find. Always remember some youngsters wasn't as lucky as me, Because six feet deep is where they be!

Daniel Robert Williams #990088 Housed at the: Wisconsin Resource Center PO Box 129 Winnebago, WI 54985 I have been housed here for almost 5 years. The first 2 years I was in treatment. I was removed from treatment and have not been allowed to re-enter. At one time I was prevented from attending Pipe Ceremony, sweatlodges, and I was also told that I cannot attend Native American education groups. I have also been isolated on units where I could not practice my way of life with other Brothers. We haven't had the traditional feasts, instead they have offered us a non -traditional preparation. Brother Leon Irby #033802-A Supermax Correctional Institution August 23,2000 "On Decemember 17, 1997 at about 3AM, CCI woke me up and ordered me from a DSII Cage to its dayroom; ordering me to brin nthing with me; then for the first time telling me I am Federal US Penitentiary bound; after 13 days van trip across cold "hearted land", I arrived at US Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kansas. Naturally, I was shaking in my bowels, because having spent four years in Isolation, I bore its ill-affects, because I was alone in a strange and hostile enviroment, and above all, because I correctly suspected DOC sent me there as an evil plot to kill me? Seriuosly! On February 13, 1998, I was released to the general population, there I immediately saw six: I was blessed to be placed in a cage with a decent brother-con and accepted by some "good" Muslim brothers! Once I was blessed to shake off the affects of prolonged isolation I had a lovely experience there.... I had no special security restrictions on me. Indeed, I was trusted to work night shift in UNICOR Industries Print Shop, I got along well with all the cons no matter the race or gang or state, which is how the cons separtate themselves there, and the staff,,,, I was out of cell from 6AM - 10PM; four movies wkly; yard; gym; library; Rec Room with workout equipment; T.V. Dayrooms; card tables on the housing unit; microwaves; washing machines. Always something exciting to do there."

Anthony Menore #116115 Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution May 3,2000 "Native americans are beingdenied their rights, constitutional rights to:bring personal tabacco as offerings to ceremonies; participate in sweat lodges; even have sweat lodges; not have sacred ceremonies; possess sacred items; time for complete pipe ceremonies; time for complete drumming ceremonies. I am the Pipe Carrier for the Native Americans here at KMCI. I strongly beieve in the Indian ways and religion, ever since I got to this institution the Native Americans have been going through numerous and on going problems with staff and especially from the administration. Problems that directly interfere with and infringe on our Native ways of worship." Brother Dennis E. Jones- EI #223971 SuperMax Correctional Institution October 9, 2000 "Neocolonial Maze" "You've cladding me in shackles and chains and said it was alright to trade, and have obscured all elements of distance and time, in terms of past, as opposed to present Day Slavery! Hohever close I range to the bordered plains of freedom, up pops another gate, laying hold on my life, and industrial commodity of a political monopoly within a Neocolonial Maze. Inmates house at SuperMax are being subjected to psychological assualtive and dehumanizing conditions that have nothing to do with security. Among them are "sleep deprivation"- "Fluorescent lights are kept on in their cells 24hrs a day, perpetual illumination, and they are not allowed anything to cover the lights; which is very damaging and painful on the eyes": no hygienic items, such as deodorant, skin cream, shaving apparatus, no hair applications, (only soap and toothpaste); "no form or recreation" whatsoever; "visits" are seen only through a small close circuit TV screens, rather than no-contact booths that are used for attorneys; "visitors" are finger printed and photograghed like criminals, to deter visits;"constant searches" (cells and body strip searches) for no reason; no desk or structure to eat or write on; 24hr "solitary" cell confinement. Meaning no capability of social interaction with another human on any level; no looking out of it at anyone or even a hallway. The cells also consist of sound suppressing apparatus, and the inmates are purposely placed in distant cells ( to prevent communication) rather than next to one another-total isolation from the world; no sight, sound,pass-time or construction. None of the above having to do with security confinementof the inmates, but more sensory deprivation and human detachment techniques:psychological war tactics, commonly used in military combat to extract information (or other things) from prisoner of war, as well as their sanity. Animal rights activist have protest of security fence at SuperMax- kill on impact, rather than stun or render unconscious- due to thehigh potential and likely probability of killing wildlife. With such concern for animals on the outside.
